This is a wine that balances generosity and precision, offering both immediate pleasure and the structure to age gracefully. Crafted by one of Burgundy’s most trusted and historic producers, it speaks clearly of place, tradition, and meticulous winemaking.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc 2022 shows a bright, pale golden color with light green reflections, hinting at its youth and freshness. The nose is expressive yet refined, opening with citrus notes of lemon zest and ripe pear, followed by white flowers, fresh almonds, and a subtle chalky minerality. With a bit of air, more layered aromas emerge: hints of white peach, acacia, and a delicate touch of vanilla and toast from judicious oak aging. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a silky, rounded texture supported by a firm, linear acidity. Flavors of citrus, pear, and stone fruits are interwoven with nuances of hazelnut, brioche, and wet stone, giving both depth and lift. The finish is long, precise, and mineral-driven, with a subtle saline edge that invites another sip. Enjoyable now for its vibrant fruit and youthful energy, it has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next 5–8 years, developing more complexity, nuttiness, and honeyed notes with time in bottle.
Production
Beaune Bressandes is a well-situated Premier Cru vineyard on the slopes above the town of Beaune, with predominantly limestone and marl soils that naturally favor fine, mineral-driven Chardonnay. Louis Jadot works with carefully selected parcels here, where vines benefit from good exposure and excellent drainage, contributing to concentration and purity of fruit. Harvesting is typically done by hand to ensure only the healthiest, ripest grapes are brought to the winery. After gentle pressing, the must is fermented in oak barrels, a portion of which are new, to lend subtle texture and complexity without overwhelming the terroir expression. The wine is then aged on its lees, with occasional bâtonnage, to build mid-palate richness and length while preserving freshness and definition.
Food & Serving
This Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes Blanc 2022 is a versatile partner at the table, shining alongside dishes that echo its balance of richness and finesse. Think roasted or poached white fish, seared scallops, poultry in cream or morel mushroom sauces, butter-poached lobster, or veal with light pan juices. It also pairs beautifully with fine goat’s cheese, Comté, or mild washed-rind cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at around 11–13°C (52–55°F) to allow the full aromatic range to unfold. Young bottles benefit from being opened 30–45 minutes in advance, and a brief decant can help the wine open up if enjoyed in its first few years.
