Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay 2023 is a classic Californian Chardonnay that beautifully balances ripe fruit, freshness, and subtle oak influence. Named after the cool fog that drifts in from San Francisco Bay, it reflects the distinctive microclimate of Livermore Valley and the long family tradition behind one of California’s most historic wine estates.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden-yellow color. The nose opens with aromas of red apple, vanilla, citrus, and tropical fruit, layered with well-integrated notes from oak. On the palate, it is generous and full-bodied, with flavors of apple, toasted bread, butter, and a delicate touch of wood. The finish is medium-long and refreshingly balanced, giving the wine both richness and lift. Thanks to its structure and balance, this Chardonnay can be enjoyed young for its freshness and vibrant fruit, but it also has enough depth to hold well over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Livermore Valley, east of San Francisco Bay, where cool morning fog and warm midday sunshine create ideal conditions for slow, even ripening. This maritime-influenced climate helps preserve acidity while allowing the fruit to reach full maturity. Wente has long focused on Chardonnay in this region, and the wine reflects careful vineyard selection and classic vinification with gentle oak integration to enhance texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs well with roast chicken, creamy pasta dishes, grilled salmon, shellfish, and lightly spiced poultry. It also works beautifully with soft cheeses and dishes featuring butter or toasted flavors. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is not necessary.
