Weingut Wittmann Weißer Burgunder Reserve Bio 2023 is a striking example of how refined and powerful Pinot Blanc can be in Rheinhessen. Sourced from top parcels in Westhofen, with much of the fruit coming from the renowned Steingrube, it combines precision, depth, and an elegant Burgundian feel with a distinct limestone-driven identity.

Tasting Notes
Pale to medium gold in the glass, it opens with a layered bouquet of fully ripe pear, yellow stone fruit, subtle spice, and a fine leesy complexity, complemented by discreet notes of wood. On the palate, it is concentrated and creamy yet very focused, showing ripe orchard fruit, mineral tension, and a long, structured finish. The wine has excellent development potential and should gain further nuance with several years of bottle age.

Production
The grapes come from outstanding Westhofen vineyards, especially the Steingrube, where limestone-rich soils lend the wine its shape and freshness. Low yields, strict hand harvesting, and careful selection ensure high quality, while fermentation and aging for at least 15 months on the full lees in traditional halbstück barrels and barrique build texture, depth, and a subtle oak frame.

Ideal with roasted poultry, veal, mushroom dishes, rich fish, or creamy risottos, this is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with elegant cuisine. Serve at 10–12°C, and decanting is optional but can help open the wine in its youth.
