Built from select parcels with the highest chalk content and kept deliberately low-yielding, it delivers impressive concentration, mineral precision, and the kind of balance that has made Rheinhessen Riesling increasingly celebrated.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, crystalline profile with plenty of energy and lift. Aromas of ripe apricot, nectarine, and pale plum lead the way, joined by salted mineral nuances and a clean citrus freshness that gives the bouquet real definition. The palate is both taut and generous: lively acidity brings structure, while sur lie aging adds a creamy texture that softens the wine’s edge and gives it a more rounded, mouth-filling feel. It is immediately enjoyable for its juicy, refreshing style, but its concentration and balance also suggest good short- to medium-term aging potential.

Production
This Riesling comes from limestone-rich parcels in Saulheim, where Weingut Thörle focuses on the most calcareous sites to emphasize freshness, minerality, and precision. Yields are kept low to ensure strong concentration in the fruit. The wine was spontaneously fermented and aged for 8 months sur lie, with 60% matured in stainless steel tanks and the remaining portion in 50-year-old large-format oak casks of 600–1200 liters.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 12°C, where the wine’s citrus-driven freshness and mineral backbone show at their best. It pairs especially well with dishes that have a bright, acidic element, such as ceviche, pan-fried fish with lemon, shellfish, or light poultry dishes with herbs and citrus. Decanting is not necessary, though a short airing can help if the wine is served very young.
