Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a luminous golden hue. The nose opens with stone fruit, citrus, and a distinct salty mineral edge, giving it both generosity and clarity. On the palate, it has impressive weight and presence, but the lively acidity lifts the wine beautifully and keeps it finely balanced. Flavors of apricot, peach, lemon, apple, wet stone, and sea salt weave together in a vivid, layered profile. It already tastes complete and expressive, yet it has the structure and freshness to develop beautifully in bottle over time.

Production
Ried Pfeningberg is a steep, hard-working vineyard site in Kremstal, with slate-rich subsoil lying deep below the surface. The vines must send their roots down over many years to reach these mineral layers, which contributes to the wine’s complexity and saline character. The grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness, with some of the must macerated on the skins for 10–12 hours to enhance aromatic intensity. Fermentation takes place slowly with natural yeasts in stainless steel, followed by maturation in large oak casks with bâtonnage to build texture and depth.

This Riesling is a natural match for refined seafood dishes, shellfish, sushi, roast poultry, spicy Asian cuisine, or dishes with rich sauces and citrus accents. Serve it well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and consider brief decanting if opened young to let the aromas fully unfold.
