Weingut Lenhardt’s Mehringer Zellerberg Riesling Auslese 2020 is a beautifully concentrated Mosel sweet wine, combining ripe fruit richness with the electric acidity that makes great Riesling so captivating. Made from hand-harvested grapes from the steep slopes of Zellerberg, it reflects both the character of the site and the fresh energy of one of Mosel’s most exciting young producers.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Auslese shows a deep, luscious texture with an almost oily consistency. The aroma is expressive and layered, with mango, peach, honey, raisins, and a gentle herbal nuance rising from the glass. On the palate, it delivers impressive sweetness balanced by bright, precise acidity, creating a polished and elegant finish. The wine feels powerful yet refined, with enough structure and intensity to age gracefully for many years, gaining further complexity over time.

Production
The grapes come from the steep, schist-rich slopes of Zellerberg in the Mosel, where Riesling thrives in the cool climate and mineral soils. Because of the incline, all work in the vineyard, including the harvest, is done by hand, allowing only carefully selected grapes to be picked at full ripeness for Auslese-level concentration. Vinification is aimed at preserving the purity of the fruit, the natural sweetness, and the vibrant Mosel acidity.

Food & Serving
This wine is a superb partner for strong cheeses, foie gras, and dark chocolate desserts, where its sweetness and acidity can match rich, intense flavors. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help open up its aromas if desired.

Weingut Lenhardt is a rising name in Mosel, led by siblings Christian and Eva Lenhardt, who revived and elevated their family estate with a strong focus on quality. With roots going back to their great-grandparents, who established the family’s vineyards on Blattenberg and Zellerberg, the estate combines deep local heritage with international experience gained in regions such as Bordeaux, Portugal, and New Zealand. Since their first vintage in 2017, they have quickly earned attention from wine critics and helped bring renewed excitement to the Mosel.
