Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby colour with impressive concentration in the glass. The nose typically offers layered aromas of ripe black fruit, red berries, dried herbs, spice, and subtle oak, while the palate is polished and expressive, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, balanced finish. As a youthful, premium blend, Milla Cala 2019 already shows excellent harmony, but it should also continue to develop complexity over the next several years. With time in bottle, the wine is likely to gain more nuance, softness, and tertiary notes.

Production
Viña VIK’s vineyards in Millahue benefit from a distinctive microclimate of sunny days, cool nights, and varied soils, creating ideal conditions for premium red grapes. The fruit is carefully sourced and vinified with a focus on precision and balance, then matured in French oak barrels produced and toasted in-house using local wood through VIK’s Barroir technique, adding a unique regional imprint to the wine.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roast beef, duck, and richly flavoured dishes such as mushroom risotto or herb-crusted meats. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.

Viña VIK was founded by Alex and Carrie Vik, who began their project in 2004 with the goal of creating one of the world’s great wines. After extensive research across South America, they chose the Millahue site in Cachapoal Valley, later commissioning architect Smiljan Radic to design the striking winery and hiring Cristián Vallejo as chief winemaker. Today, VIK is recognised for its innovative approach, sustainability focus, and international reputation for producing some of Chile’s most distinctive premium reds.
