Description

Valentin Leflaive Champagne Grand Cru Rosé Brut is an elegant, terroir-driven rosé Champagne crafted from finely selected Pinot Noir grapes in some of Champagne’s most coveted Grand Cru villages. Marrying precision, purity, and generous fruit, it offers a refined expression of Pinot Noir in sparkling form. This cuvée stands out for its Burgundian-inspired attention to vineyard detail, bringing a sense of place and personality to every bottle.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Grand Cru Rosé reveals a luminous, pale salmon-pink hue with delicate, persistent bubbles forming a fine, silky mousse. The color hints at finesse rather than power, promising a poised and graceful style. On the nose, expect precise red berry aromas—wild strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant—layered with rose petals, blood orange zest, pomegranate, and a chalky, mineral lift. Subtle notes of brioche, crushed almonds, and a touch of spice speak to its time on lees. The palate is dry, vibrant, and beautifully structured, with a fine, linear acidity that carries the red fruit core elegantly across the tongue. Flavors of fresh berries and cranberry intertwine with grapefruit, pink peppercorn, and a saline, chalky backbone typical of top Grand Cru sites. The mousse is creamy yet taut, giving the wine both texture and precision. The finish is long, clean, and mouthwatering, with lingering mineral notes and a whisper of citrus. Enjoy it now for its energy and freshness, or cellar for 3–6 years to gain further complexity and a more pronounced autolytic character.

Production
Sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the heart of the Champagne region, this rosé reflects the cool climate and chalk-rich soils that define the area’s finest terroirs. The Pinot Noir (Pinot Nero) is carefully hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve acidity and aromatic intensity, with strict selection both in the vineyard and at the winery. A portion of still Pinot Noir is used to create the rosé color, allowing precise control over hue and structure. Vinification follows a Burgundian-influenced philosophy: gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentations, and a focus on purity of fruit and terroir expression. Extended aging on lees in bottle adds finesse, creaminess, and complexity, while a carefully judged Brut dosage maintains balance and tension rather than overt sweetness.

Food & Serving
This Champagne Grand Cru Rosé Brut is a versatile partner at the table, shining with refined appetizers and delicate main courses alike. Pair it with tuna tartare, salmon sashimi, charcuterie, or beef carpaccio, as well as roasted poultry, veal tartare, or a mushroom risotto. It also works beautifully alongside soft cheeses such as Brie de Meaux or Chaource. Serve well-chilled at 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and finesse. A brief 10–15 minutes in a decanter or simply in the glass can help the aromas open up, especially if served closer to the upper end of the temperature range.

Producer
Valentin Leflaive is the Champagne project of the renowned Leflaive family, whose name is synonymous with top-tier Burgundy, particularly in Puligny-Montrachet. Bringing a Burgundian mindset to Champagne, the estate focuses on terroir expression, precision, and transparency of origin, with a strong emphasis on Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites. Based in the Côte des Blancs and working with carefully selected vineyards, Valentin Leflaive has quickly gained recognition for its minimalist, detail-driven approach: low yields, meticulous vineyard work, and exacting vinification. The result is a collection of Champagnes that are both gastronomic and expressive, positioning Valentin Leflaive as one of the most exciting modern names bridging the worlds of Burgundy and Champagne.
