Vajra G.D. Langhe Freisa Kye 2023

G.D. Vajra Langhe Freisa Kyè 2023 is a vivid expression of one of Piedmont’s most characterful native grapes. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright ruby-red color with attractive transparency. The nose is fragrant and expressive, offering notes of red cherry, wild berries, rose petal, spice, and a subtle herbal or earthy undertone. On the palate, Freisa is known for freshness, fine tannins, and a lively, energetic structure, and Kyè is no exception. Expect juicy red fruit, floral lift, and a gently savory finish with a pleasantly taut grip. It has the balance to age for a few years, gaining nuance and complexity over time, though it is also highly enjoyable in its youth.

Produced in Piedmont from Freisa grown in Langhe, the wine reflects the region’s cool hillsides and well-drained soils, which help preserve the grape’s aromatic intensity and natural freshness. Vajra is known for careful vineyard work and hand harvesting, allowing for selective picking at optimal ripeness. Vinification is carried out with a focus on elegance and clarity, aimed at preserving Freisa’s perfume, structure, and distinctive personality.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, especially with Piedmontese dishes, charcuterie, roasted poultry, mushroom risotto, grilled vegetables, and pasta with rich tomato-based sauces. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is optional, but a short decant can help open the wine if enjoyed young.
