Vajra G.D. Dolcetto d'Alba 2025

Vajra’s G.D. Dolcetto d’Alba is a pure, organic expression of Piedmont, made entirely from Dolcetto and shaped by more than 50 years of family-driven, sustainable viticulture. Fresh, supple and characterful, it captures the soul of Alba in a style that is both approachable and quietly distinctive.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear purple hue that hints at its youthful energy and vivid fruit profile. The nose opens with blackberry and mulberry, followed by a fresh lift of bright mountain flowers and sweet spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet broad and generous, with Dolcetto’s natural tannins balanced beautifully by ripe fruit and lively freshness. The finish is smooth and harmonious, making it delicious in its youth, though it can also develop nicely over the short to medium term.

Production
The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards in Piedmont, where Vajra has cultivated its land with care for over half a century. Harvest takes place in the first half of September, after which the wine undergoes a gentle vinification lasting up to 15 days with a few punch-downs each day. It is racked at least twice before malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and matured exclusively in stainless steel, preserving its purity and varietal freshness before bottling in spring following the harvest.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, ideal with antipasti, pasta with tomato-based sauces, mushroom dishes, roast chicken, pork, and lightly aged cheeses. Serve slightly cool, around 14–16°C, and there is no need to decant unless you wish to let it open for a few minutes in the glass.
