Description

Tenuta Tignanello ‘Marchese Antinori’ Chianti Classico Riserva is a polished expression of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s most celebrated estates. Since 2011, it has been crafted from the Tignanello property in the heart of Chianti Classico, bringing together tradition, elegance, and the signature depth associated with Antinori.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows an intense ruby-red color. The bouquet is marked by red fruit, especially black cherry, lifted by subtle floral nuances and a delicate sweetness reminiscent of icing sugar, followed by hints of cinnamon and dill for a refined spicy edge. On the palate, it is structured and powerful, yet carries the line and finesse typical of great Sangiovese. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, giving the wine a generous mouthfeel and a long, fresh, full-bodied finish. With time in bottle, it should continue to gain harmony and complexity over the coming years.

Production
The Tignanello estate lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone between the Greve and Pescia river valleys, covering nearly 800 hectares, of which around 130 hectares are planted to vines. The vineyards are mainly planted with Sangiovese, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. For this wine, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed on arrival, then fermented in stainless steel for about a week with careful remontage and délestage to build intensity while preserving supple tannins. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally and is completed by year-end, after which the wine matures for around a year in French and Hungarian oak, followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for Tuscan-inspired dishes such as bistecca alla fiorentina, roast lamb, game birds, braised beef, and rich mushroom pasta. It also works beautifully with aged Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano. Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for about 30–60 minutes is recommended if opening young.

Producer
Antinori is one of Italy’s most historic and respected wine families, with a legacy spanning centuries and a defining role in the evolution of Tuscan wine. The Tignanello estate has become a benchmark for quality in Chianti Classico, and Marchese Antinori stands out as one of the estate’s classic wines, recognized for combining regional identity with the finesse and consistency for which the house is known.
