Description

Taittinger Millésimé Brut Champagne 2016 is a refined vintage Champagne that showcases the house’s signature elegance and precision. Crafted from an equal blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, with 70% of the fruit sourced from Grand Cru vineyards, it combines depth, freshness, and exceptional finesse. Released after five years of cellar aging, it reflects both the character of the 2016 vintage and Taittinger’s long-standing commitment to classically styled Champagne.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse, this vintage Champagne opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, especially apple blossom and pear blossom, followed by fresh citrus, lemon, and ripe peach. The bouquet is lifted and graceful, with a subtle mineral edge that adds clarity and focus. On the palate, it is crisp, beautifully precise, and impressively balanced, offering a clean interplay of structure and finesse. Notes of almond and a gentle touch of brioche emerge on the finish, giving the wine extra complexity and a lightly creamy, toasty impression. It has the concentration and acidity to age gracefully for several more years, developing additional depth and richness over time.

Production
This vintage cuvée is made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, with grapes drawn primarily from Grand Cru vineyards and supplemented by Premier Cru sites. The blend brings together the power and structure of Pinot Noir with the elegance and freshness of Chardonnay. After vinification, the Champagne matured in Taittinger’s cellars for five years before release, allowing the wine to develop fine texture, balance, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve this Champagne well chilled at 8–10°C. It is an excellent match for oysters, scallops, delicate seafood, sushi, roast poultry, and refined dishes with creamy sauces, as well as hard cheeses like Comté or aged Parmesan. Decanting is not necessary; instead, open shortly before serving to preserve its freshness and finesse.

Producer
Champagne Taittinger is one of the most respected family-run houses in Champagne, known for its elegant, Chardonnay-driven style and consistent quality. With deep roots in the region, the house has built a strong reputation for producing expressive, finely structured Champagnes that combine freshness with sophistication.
