Description

Stéphane Colas Champagne Brut Rosé is a refined, non-vintage rosé Champagne that brings together elegance, freshness and a vivid sense of place. Crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grown in the heart of the Champagne region, it offers a beautifully balanced style that’s as versatile as it is inviting. This cuvée celebrates the long French tradition of rosé Champagne, where the art lies in blending structure, finesse and pure drinking pleasure.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Brut Rosé shows a delicate, shimmering salmon-pink hue, enlivened by a fine and persistent bead of bubbles. The nose is expressive and lifted, with aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants and raspberry coulis, layered with notes of citrus zest, white flowers and a subtle touch of brioche. On the palate, it’s crisp and precise, with a lively, mouthwatering acidity that frames juicy red fruit flavours—think strawberry, cherry and a hint of blood orange—alongside a chalky mineral edge from Champagne’s limestone-rich soils. The Chardonnay adds finesse and length, while Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir bring generosity and fruit. The finish is clean, dry and gently creamy, making it as suitable for an aperitif as it is for the table. Best enjoyed within a few years of release for its vibrant, youthful character, though it can develop a bit more complexity over 2–4 years in bottle.

Production
Sourced from vineyards in France’s renowned Champagne region, this rosé reflects the area’s classic cool climate and chalk-limestone terroir, which naturally preserve acidity and lend a distinct mineral backbone. Grapes of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection, then pressed gently to protect purity of fruit. The rosé color is typically achieved either by a short maceration of the black grapes or by blending a small portion of still red Pinot into the base wines—a traditional method in Champagne. After primary fermentation, the wines are blended across vintages to maintain a consistent house style, then bottled for the second fermentation and extended aging on the lees, building texture, fine bubbles and subtle toasty complexity before disgorgement and dosage to a Brut level of dryness.

Food & Serving
This Champagne Brut Rosé is a natural partner for a wide range of dishes: try it with salmon tartare, tuna carpaccio, sushi, or charcuterie, as well as grilled prawns, roast chicken, or soft cheeses like Brie and Chaource. Its red fruit notes also make it a delightful match with summer salads featuring berries or pomegranate, and even light berry-based desserts that aren’t overly sweet. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and aroma. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or an open bottle is all that’s needed for it to fully express itself; extended decanting is not necessary.

Producer
Stéphane Colas is a grower-producer rooted in the Champagne region of France, working within one of the world’s most historic sparkling wine landscapes. Like many of Champagne’s smaller houses, the focus is on careful vineyard work and precise blending to showcase the character of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. By embracing traditional Champagne methods—hand harvesting, secondary bottle fermentation and aging on the lees—Stéphane Colas contributes to the region’s reputation for refined, terroir-driven cuvées. The Brut Rosé reflects this artisanal approach, offering an accessible yet authentic taste of grower Champagne craftsmanship.
