Tasting Notes
In the glass, Interval 106 2018 shows a vibrant, medium-deep straw colour with golden reflections, hinting at concentration and development. The nose is immediately arresting: ripe grapefruit and citrus zest upfront, wrapped in exotic coconut notes and a subtle, evolving petrol nuance typical of mature Riesling. There’s a gentle smokiness and a wild, slightly untamed edge that speaks to its natural, low-intervention origins. On the palate, the wine is full of character and texture, with a generous, almost creamy mouthfeel that contrasts beautifully with the grape’s inherent freshness. The acidity is wonderfully integrated and feels softer than you might expect from Riesling, giving an impression of warmth and roundness rather than sharpness. Citrus oils, grapefruit pith and stone fruit mingle with a touch of herbal spice and that faint Piña-colada-like echo of coconut. The finish is long, savory and slightly saline, with the petrol note reappearing in a refined, smoky register. Already drinking beautifully, it has the structure and acidity to continue evolving positively for several more years, gaining complexity and tertiary notes.

Production
Interval 106 is sourced from estate vineyards in western Slovakia, in the Tyrnava area of the Nitrian wine region, where rolling hills, mixed soils and a continental climate provide excellent conditions for Riesling. Slobodné Vinárstvo farm their vines with a strong respect for nature, working organically and focusing on healthy, balanced fruit rather than high yields. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with careful selection in the vineyard. In the cellar, the wine is made with minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, gentle handling and limited additions, often followed by maturation on the lees to build texture and aromatic complexity. The result is an authentic expression of place and grape, unpolished in the best possible way.

This rustic, aromatic Riesling is a versatile food wine that shines with dishes rich in flavour and texture. Try it with roasted poultry, pork belly, smoked or grilled fish, or alpine-style cheeses; it also pairs beautifully with spicy Asian cuisine, coconut-based curries and aromatic vegetarian dishes like roasted root vegetables or pumpkin risotto. Serve at around 10–12 °C to balance freshness and aromatic intensity. A brief decant of 20–30 minutes helps the wine open up, allowing the exotic fruit, coconut and petrol notes to fully emerge and the texture to soften on the palate.
