Description

Siran 2005 from Margaux is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux with the polish, finesse, and structure that make this appellation so admired. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, it carries the pedigree of one of Margaux’s respected historic estates, offering a refined expression of Cabernet-led Bordeaux from an excellent vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it should show a deep garnet hue with some evolved ruby tones at the rim, reflecting its age. The nose is typically layered with blackcurrant, plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral notes, alongside hints of graphite and sweet spice. On the palate, expect a medium-to-full-bodied wine with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a balanced core of dark fruit, earth, and oak spice, finishing long and composed. This is a wine that can still be enjoyed now, while remaining capable of further graceful development for a few more years under ideal storage.

Production
Produced in Margaux, in Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Siran benefits from the appellation’s gravelly soils, which help with drainage and encourage the ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon and other traditional Bordeaux varieties. The grapes are typically harvested by hand or with careful parcel selection to preserve quality, and vinification is carried out in the classic Bordeaux style to emphasize structure, purity, and aging potential. The estate’s approach aims to capture both the elegance of Margaux and the depth expected of a classified growth.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at 16–18°C, and if opening now, decant for 1–2 hours to help the aromas unfold and soften the tannins.

Producer
Château Siran is a long-established Margaux estate with a reputation for producing elegant, classically styled wines that reflect the character of the appellation. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it holds an important place in Bordeaux’s heritage and continues to be recognized for consistency, refinement, and a strong sense of place.
