Named after one of the early tractors used on the Shafer property, TD-9 reflects the winery’s long Napa heritage while showcasing impressive clarity and finesse already at release.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows deep, dark color and an immediately inviting aromatic profile of blackcurrant, plum, and ripe dark berries. These fruit-driven notes are layered with subtle smoke, spice, and vanilla from carefully judged French oak, giving the wine both richness and refinement. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with a silky texture, firm structure, and beautifully integrated tannins. Flavors of chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of coffee bean unfold over the fruit core, leading to a long, persistent finish. Enjoyable now, it also has the structure to age gracefully over the coming years.

Production
Sourced from Napa Valley vineyards, TD-9 is crafted from a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with more than 75% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, which contribute subtle spice, smoke, and vanilla while preserving the wine’s vivid fruit expression and balance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs naturally with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, roasted lamb, or dishes with mushroom and truffle accents. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
