The nose leans toward ripe dark berries, plum, and black cherry, often accented by sweet spice, hints of Mediterranean herbs, and a gentle floral lift. The palate is usually smooth and generous, with juicy fruit, soft tannins, and a rounded, approachable texture. It offers immediate drinking pleasure, though the wine’s structure and ripe fruit should allow it to hold nicely for a few years after release.

Production
This wine comes from Salento in Apulia, where warm sunshine, cooling coastal influences, and mineral-rich soils help Malvasia Nera ripen fully while retaining freshness. San Marzano’s growers tend their small vineyard parcels carefully, almost like gardens, and the fruit is harvested with attention to achieving optimal aromatic ripeness. Vinification is carried out to preserve the grape’s expressive fruit character and supple texture, resulting in a wine that is both regional and polished.

Food & Serving
A great match for grilled sausages, roasted lamb, pasta with rich tomato sauce, eggplant dishes, and aged hard cheeses. Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and decanting is optional but can be helpful if you want to soften the wine and open up its aromas a little more.
