San Guido Sassicaia 2022

Sassicaia 2022 is one of Tuscany’s most celebrated reds, and a benchmark for Super Tuscan wine. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it combines precision, elegance and depth with the unmistakable character that has made Tenuta San Guido a global icon.

Tasting Notes
The 2022 vintage shows a deeper youthful magenta-red hue, hinting at its concentration and long life ahead. Aromatically, it opens with rosemary, sage, gravelly earth, mossy notes and fresh black cherry, giving it a refined and distinctly Mediterranean profile. On the palate, the wine has a slightly broader frame than usual, yet remains beautifully elegant. There is more mid-palate density, balanced by vivid acidity that drives the finish. It is still carrying some youthful richness and will benefit from time in bottle; drink from 2028 through 2058 for the full expression.

Production
Sassicaia comes from the Bolgheri area on Tuscany’s coast, where a mix of stony soils, maritime influence and excellent drainage creates ideal conditions for Cabernet varieties. The grapes are typically harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on purity, structure and balance, preserving the wine’s aromatic lift and age-worthy backbone.

Food & Serving
Serve Sassicaia with richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb with rosemary, braised short ribs or wild mushroom risotto. Aim for a serving temperature of around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended when the wine is young to help open its aromas and soften its structure.
