Description
Rosset Terroir Sopraquota 900 2023 is a striking high-altitude Petite Arvine from the Aosta Valley, offering the freshness and mineral precision that have made this mountain grape so admired. Crafted above 900 metres, it reflects the dramatic alpine landscape of northern Italy and the careful, small-scale approach of Rosset Terroir.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright, pale straw colour with lively clarity. The nose is expressive and refined, with notes of white flowers, citrus zest, green apple, alpine herbs, and a distinct stony, saline edge.
The palate is crisp and focused, combining juicy citrus, pear, and subtle stone fruit with a clean mineral backbone and a refreshing, mouth-watering finish. Petite Arvine from this altitude is known for its tension and aromatic purity, and this wine should age gracefully over the next few years, gaining extra complexity and texture.
Production
Sourced from vineyards in the Aosta Valley at an altitude of around 900 metres, the wine benefits from a cool alpine terroir with strong diurnal shifts, excellent drainage, and intense mountain sunlight. The grapes are typically harvested by hand to preserve fruit integrity, and vinification is handled with a light touch to protect the grape’s natural aromatics and precision.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with alpine cheeses, freshwater fish, shellfish, risotto, vegetable dishes, and light poultry preparations. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary; a short rest in the glass is enough to open up its aromatic profile.
Producer
Rosset Terroir is a respected family producer in the Aosta Valley, known for expressing the region’s unique mountain character through carefully farmed, terroir-driven wines. The estate has built a strong reputation for quality and authenticity, especially with native and regional varieties that thrive in the challenging alpine environment.
