Rivers-Marie Joy Road Pinot Noir 2021 is the first Pinot Noir from this prized Sonoma Coast site, crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown, who has been working with Chardonnay from the same vineyard since 2013. Sourced from a remarkably sandy vineyard and vinified with block-by-block precision, it delivers the kind of detail, finesse, and site expression that has made Rivers-Marie such a respected name among California Pinot Noir lovers.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a bright, inviting profile with vivid red fruit at the core. The nose opens with red cherries, strawberries, white flowers, sandalwood, black pepper, and a light hint of mint. The palate is shaped by the same red-fruited character, joined by cranberry and a striking sense of freshness and elegance. Fine-boned yet expressive, it already drinks beautifully, but it also has the structure and balance to develop further with time in bottle.

Production
Joy Road is a Sonoma Coast vineyard near the ocean, where the cool coastal influence and sandy soils help preserve freshness and define the wine’s refined character. The Pinot Noir fruit comes from eight separate parcels across the vineyard, each fermented individually so Thomas Rivers Brown can preserve the distinct qualities of every block before blending them into the final wine.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir is a natural match for roast duck, grilled salmon, wild mushroom dishes, herb-roasted chicken, or simply a well-made charcuterie board. Serve it slightly chilled at around 15–16°C, and consider a short decant if opening young, though it can also be enjoyed straight from the bottle.
