Ridge Vineyards Geyserville 2019 is one of California’s most iconic Zinfandel-based reds, renowned for its consistency, depth, and outstanding critical reputation. First produced in 1966, it comes from some of Ridge’s oldest vines, with select parcels reaching up to 130 years of age, giving the wine remarkable concentration and a true sense of history.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep dark ruby color. The nose is layered and expressive, with dark cherries, spice, cola, mint, and a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, ripe dark fruit leads the way, joined by pomegranate, rose petals, cocoa, and a gentle smoky note that carries into a long, balanced finish. This is a wine with impressive structure and poise, where the richness of the fruit is matched by freshness and restraint. It already drinks beautifully, but it has the depth and balance to age gracefully for several years.

Production
Geyserville Vineyard is planted on historic old vines in California, with Zinfandel making up roughly 70% of the blend and the remaining portion typically drawn from Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. Winemaker Eric Baugher adjusts the final blend slightly from vintage to vintage, always aiming to preserve the vineyard’s distinctive character. The wine is matured for 13 months in American oak, with only about 10% new barrels so the fruit remains at the forefront.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile, food-friendly red that works especially well with grilled meats, barbecue, roasted lamb, beef short ribs, or hearty pasta dishes. It should be served slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16–18°C, and does not require decanting unless you want to give it extra air before serving.
