Realm Hartwell XX 2022

Realm Hartwell XX 2022 is a highly limited single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the top section of Realm Cellars’ Wappo Hill estate in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District. Crafted from a rare 2-acre parcel planted in 1986 with the Bosche clone, it combines power, precision, and remarkable depth in a way that speaks clearly to one of Napa’s most celebrated Cabernet-growing sites.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Hartwell XX 2022 shows the dark, concentrated color you’d expect from a serious Napa Cabernet. The nose is layered and expressive, offering blackcurrant, red currant, dried tobacco, iris, black olive, graphite, and exotic spice. The palate is dense and focused, with tightly woven tannins and vibrant acidity giving the wine both structure and lift. It finishes long and composed, with the balance and concentration to age beautifully for two decades or more; while it can be cellared confidently, it is best allowed to develop further before opening, with a drinking window beginning around 2027.

Hartwell XX 2022 comes from a 2-acre parcel on the upper part of Realm Cellars’ estate at Wappo Hill in the Stags Leap District, an area known for producing Cabernet Sauvignon with both power and elegance. The vineyard’s rocky Napa Valley terrain and exceptional exposure help shape the wine’s intensity and refined structure, while the old-vine Bosche-clone planting contributes depth and complexity. Harvest is handled with great selectivity, and the wine is vinified in small quantities to preserve the precision and character of the site.

Food & Serving
This is a wine built for richly flavored dishes such as dry-aged ribeye, grilled lamb, braised short ribs, or venison with earthy accompaniments like mushrooms and truffle. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open and soften its tannic frame.
