Quinta do Noval, Reserva 2018

Quinta do Noval Reserva 2018 is a powerful yet refined red from the Douro Valley, showing the elegant, delicate style that has made Quinta do Noval a benchmark producer in Portugal. Made from a strict selection of the estate’s best parcels and native varieties, it captures both intensity and authenticity in a wine built to impress now and evolve beautifully in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is dark, dense, and opaque, hinting at the concentration within. The nose opens with intense aromas of blueberry and raspberry, layered with bread dough, pastry, spices, and subtle mineral notes, all wrapped in well-integrated oak and a touch of pure chocolate. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with excellent tannins, precision, and finesse. Despite its power, the wine remains polished and graceful, and it has very good aging potential, developing even more complexity over time.

Production
This Reserva is crafted from 60% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Francesa, and 15% field blend from the Quinta do Noval estate. Fermentation takes place over 15 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures for 12 months in oak barrels, including 50% new 225-liter French oak, adding structure, spice, and depth while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
Serve with roasted lamb, grilled beef, game, or rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged cheeses that can stand up to its depth and tannin. The ideal serving temperature is around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to let the aromas and structure open fully.
