Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2020 Rabajà Riserva shows a deep, vibrant garnet core with a brick-tinged rim, characteristic of Nebbiolo yet denser and more saturated than many Barbarescos in its youth. Swirling reveals excellent viscosity and a sense of concentration that hints at the wine’s structure and extract. The nose is immediately dark and compelling, with black cherry and ripe plum at the core, layered by notes of dried rose petal, leather, clove, licorice, and menthol. Underneath, you’ll find crushed gravel, iron, and a slight smoky, earthy tone that speaks clearly of Rabajà’s complex terroir. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and explosive, with black cherry, plum, and blood orange framed by savory hints of tobacco, cured leather, and spice. Production
Rabajà is a historic cru in the heart of Barbaresco, set on steep, southwest-facing slopes with calcareous marl and limestone-rich soils that naturally limit yields and give wines their tension, structure, and minerality. Nebbiolo grapes for this Riserva are sourced from selected parcels tended by Produttori’s grower-members, who farm with great attention to vineyard health and optimal ripeness. Harvest is carried out by hand to ensure careful selection of bunches in the vineyard. In the cellar, the grapes are traditionally vinified, with a thorough maceration on the skins to extract color, tannin, and aromatic complexity. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by extended aging in large seasoned Slavonian oak casks (botti), allowing the wine to develop depth and nuance without overt oak flavors. Additional bottle aging refines the tannins and integrates the wine’s powerful components before release as a Riserva.

Food & Serving
This is a serious, structured Barbaresco that shines with richly flavored dishes.
