Tasting Notes
Expect a deeply coloured red with generous dark-fruit concentration and the kind of spicy, savoury edge that makes Shiraz so appealing. On the nose, look for ripe blackberry, plum and black cherry lifted by pepper, subtle smoke and hints of dried herbs. The palate is likely to be medium to full-bodied, with supple tannins, juicy fruit and a balanced, fresh finish thanks to the estate’s cooler airflow. While already approachable in youth, it should also benefit from a few years in bottle, gaining more complexity and softness over time.

Production
Post House is located between Somerset West and Stellenbosch on the foothills of Helderberg, where the estate’s vineyards benefit from a unique combination of humidity and cooling southwest breezes. This helps moderate ripening and reduces the need for extensive irrigation. The wine is produced from estate-grown fruit, with careful vineyard management and vinification aimed at preserving Shiraz character and site expression.

Food & Serving
This Shiraz pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, venison, hearty stews and smoky barbecue dishes. It also works well with mature cheeses and spiced Mediterranean fare. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if drinking young to allow the aromas and texture to open up.

Post House was founded after the Gebers family purchased the estate in 1981, and winemaking began in earnest in 1996 when Nick Gebers started producing wines under the Post House name. The winery takes its name from the property’s history as an old post house, and that sense of heritage still shapes the brand today. With a strong portfolio of estate-grown varieties and a clear focus on expressing terroir, Post House has become a distinctive voice in the Stellenbosch region.
