Pintia 2021 is a bold, expressive Tempranillo from Castilla y León, crafted by the legendary Vega Sicilia team in the Toro area of northern Spain. With its deep concentration, French and American oak ageing, and unmistakable power, it captures both the rugged character of the region and the precision of one of Spain’s most respected wine houses.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, Pintia 2021 opens with layered aromas of dark forest berries, vanilla, leather, and tobacco, unfolding slowly with time in the glass. On the palate it is full-bodied and generous, with ripe fruit, firm structure, and a long, intense finish that balances power with polish. The wine’s concentration and backbone suggest excellent ageing potential, allowing its dark fruit, oak spice, and savoury notes to develop further over the coming years. This is a wine that will reward patience.

Production
Pintia comes from selected Tempranillo vineyards in Toro, where the hot, dry continental climate and demanding conditions naturally keep yields low and fruit highly concentrated. The grapes are harvested with care and vinified to preserve intensity and balance, followed by 12–15 months of ageing in a mix of French and American oak barrels, which adds complexity, spice, and structure without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
Pintia 2021 pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roasted beef, venison, braised short ribs, or richly flavoured dishes such as mushroom stew and hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if possible to allow the wine to open fully and soften its tannins.

Producer
Pintia was created by Bodegas Vega Sicilia, one of Spain’s most iconic wineries, which recognised the outstanding potential of Toro and established the estate with 96 hectares of vineyards. Under the guidance of winemaker Xavier Ausás López de Castro, the winery quickly rose to the top of the region, with its first vintage in 2001 already making a strong impression. Since then, Pintia has continued to build a reputation for wines of power, precision, and remarkable character.
