Pintia 2020

Pintia 2020 is a powerful and expressive Tempranillo from Spain’s Castilla y León, created by the legendary Bodegas Vega Sicilia group in the Toro area. With its deep concentration, oak maturation, and unmistakable sense of place, it has quickly earned a reputation as one of the region’s standout wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color that hints at the intensity to come. The nose is layered and complex, with dark forest berries, vanilla, leather, and tobacco all unfolding over time. On the palate, Pintia 2020 is full-bodied, bold, and richly textured, with impressive depth and structure. The oak aging adds spice and nuance without overshadowing the fruit, and the wine has the concentration and balance to develop beautifully over the next several years.

Production
Made entirely from Tempranillo, Pintia 2020 is aged for 12–15 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The vineyards in Toro benefit from a harsh continental climate and naturally low yields, which help produce grapes with exceptional intensity and character. Careful winemaking preserves the varietal purity while adding polish and complexity through oak maturation.

Food & Serving
This is a natural partner for grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, game, and rich stews, as well as aged Manchego or other mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine to fully open and soften.

Producer
Pintia was established by Bodegas Vega Sicilia, one of Spain’s most celebrated wine estates, after the group recognized the huge potential of Toro. The estate began with 96 hectares of vineyards and released its first vintage in 2001, immediately joining the top tier of the region. Under the guidance of winemaker Xavier Ausás López de Castro, Pintia has continued to raise the benchmark for Toro wines.
