Pintia 2019 is a powerful and polished Tempranillo from one of Spain’s most respected wine families, crafted by the legendary Vega Sicilia group in Toro. It combines deep concentration, elegant oak aging, and the intensity that has made Pintia one of the standout estates in Castilla y León.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Pintia 2019 shows a deep ruby-red color with impressive depth. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark forest berries, vanilla, leather, and tobacco, with the oak adding spice and subtle warmth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complete, with bold fruit, firm structure, and a long, savoury finish. This is a wine built for aging and should develop beautifully over the next several years, gaining complexity and finesse.

Production
Pintia comes from Toro, one of the most characterful wine zones in northwestern Spain, where the continental climate, low rainfall, and naturally low yields create grapes of remarkable concentration. The estate was founded by Bodegas Vega Sicilia after recognizing the region’s potential and acquiring 96 hectares of vineyards. Made from Tempranillo and aged for 12–15 months in French and American oak barrels, the wine is vinified with a gentle approach to preserve intensity, balance, and the distinct personality of the terroir.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich meat dishes such as grilled steak, roasted lamb, braised short ribs, game, and hearty stews. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses and dishes with smoky or spiced flavors. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic depth.

Pintia is part of the Vega Sicilia family, a name synonymous with Spanish wine excellence. When the group established the estate in Toro, they quickly proved the region could produce wines of outstanding quality, and the first vintage, 2001, already ranked among the area’s best. Under the direction of winemaker Xavier Ausás López de Castro, Pintia has continued to build on that success, becoming a benchmark for powerful, age-worthy Toro wines.
