Description
Pierson Cuvelier Premier Cru Rosé is an elegant non‑vintage Champagne crafted from Pinot Noir grown in some of the finest crus of Champagne. This rosé combines delicate red-fruit charm with the tension and finesse that Montagne de Reims is known for. As a Premier Cru bottling from a long‑standing grower family, it offers a serious, terroir-driven alternative to the big houses while remaining wonderfully approachable.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Champagne shows a luminous salmon-pink hue with fine, persistent bubbles forming a graceful mousse. The nose is expressive and inviting, with notes of wild strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants and hints of rose petals, underpinned by subtle pastry, citrus zest and a gentle mineral edge.
On the palate, the wine is dry, vibrant and finely textured, with juicy red berry flavors layered over crisp acidity and a chalky backbone. Hints of blood orange, pomegranate and brioche add complexity, leading to a clean, refreshing and delicately spicy finish. Enjoy it now for its fruit-forward charm and energy; well-stored bottles of quality NV rosé Champagne like this can evolve gracefully for 3–5 years, gaining a touch more creaminess and nuance over time.
Production
Pierson Cuvelier farms its Pinot Noir vines around Louvois in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, an area prized for its chalk and limestone soils that give Champagne its trademark precision and minerality. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and ensure careful selection in the vineyard. In the cellar, the cuvée is crafted primarily from Pinot Noir, with a portion of red still wine added to achieve the rosé color and enhance red-fruit aromatics. Gentle pressing, cool fermentation and aging on the lees in bottle help build texture and fine bubbles, while the non‑vintage blend allowing reserve wines to add depth and consistency from year to year.
Food & Serving
This Premier Cru Rosé is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with salmon or tuna tartare, sushi, charcuterie, roast poultry, grilled prawns and lightly spiced Asian dishes. It also works wonderfully with soft cheeses, fresh berries and fruit‑based desserts that are not overly sweet. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F). A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or an elegant decanter can help the aromas open up, but extended decanting is not necessary—this Champagne is made to be enjoyed for its freshness and vibrancy.
Producer
Pierson Cuvelier is a family‑run Champagne estate founded in 1901, and has been producing wine from its own vines for more than a century. Today, the third generation, François Pierson, leads the domaine from their home village of Louvois in the Montagne de Reims, one of just 17 villages classified as Grand Cru in Champagne and surrounded by top Premier Cru sites. Working closely with his son, the fourth generation in training, François combines tradition, experience and meticulous vineyard work to craft Champagnes with fine, soft bubbles and notable purity. Pierson Cuvelier’s wines have earned consistent recognition and awards from French Champagne experts, helping to cement the estate’s reputation as a high‑quality grower in one of the region’s most prestigious zones.
