Description
Pierre Morey Meursault Les Tessons 2019 is a beautifully composed white Burgundy from one of Meursault’s most respected names. Made from Chardonnay and shaped by organic and biodynamic farming, it combines precision, depth, and elegance with the kind of energy that makes great Meursault so compelling. The Morey family’s roots in Burgundy date back to the 16th century, while Domaine Pierre Morey itself was founded in 1971, carrying a long tradition into a modern classic style.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the polished brightness and depth expected from a serious Meursault. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with pear, peach, mandarin oil, honeysuckle, lemon thyme, toasted bread, and hazelnut unfolding over time.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and finely chiseled, with racy acidity and a subtle bitter edge that adds tension and freshness. The finish is long, lively, and harmonious, suggesting excellent aging potential and the ability to develop even more complexity with time in bottle.
Production
The wine comes from Les Tessons in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, where Chardonnay thrives in the region’s limestone-rich terroir. Domaine Pierre Morey also works vineyards in Monthelie, Pommard, and Puligny-Montrachet, with a total of around 10 hectares, and the wines are crafted to express the distinct character of each site.
Harvesting and cellar work are guided by organic and biodynamic principles, reflecting a strong commitment to both quality and sustainability. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 20 months to build texture, complexity, and balance while preserving the purity of the fruit and the character of the terroir.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for elegant dishes such as roast chicken, veal, lobster, scallops, turbot, or creamy mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with soft-ripened and aged cheeses, especially those with a nutty or earthy profile. Serve at around 10-12°C, and decanting is optional but can help the wine open up if enjoyed in its youth.
Producer
Domaine Pierre Morey is one of Meursault’s benchmark producers, known for wines that balance finesse, purity, and structure with remarkable consistency. Founded by Pierre Morey in 1971, the domaine has built a strong reputation in Burgundy for both traditional craftsmanship and environmentally conscious viticulture. Its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming, together with its understated but highly refined style, has made it one of the region’s most admired estates.
