Pfitscher Sauvignon Blanc Mathias Riserva is a refined Alto Adige white that showcases the precision and character of one of South Tyrol’s most respected family producers. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, it combines freshness, depth, and a distinctly mineral profile, reflecting the expertise Pfitscher has built since 1861.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow color. The nose is expressive yet focused, with clear fruit layered over flinty, mineral hints that bring an elegant sense of tension and clarity. On the palate, the wine is defined by impressive depth, precision, and a long, persistent finish. Its balance of ripe Sauvignon fruit, minerality, and subtle oak influence gives it both sophistication and structure, with the concentration to age gracefully over the next several years.

Production
Sourced from Alto Adige DOC vineyards in Trentino-Alto Adige, this Sauvignon Blanc reflects the cool Alpine terroir that gives the region’s whites their freshness and aromatic lift. After around six hours of skin maceration, the must is fermented at a controlled 18°C, with 70% in small oak barrels and 30% in stainless steel. The wine then matures on its lees for 16 months in oak and steel before spending additional time in bottle.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for richer fish dishes, shellfish, roasted poultry, creamy risottos, and vegetable dishes with herbs or a touch of spice. Serve it well chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if you want to open up its aromatic complexity and textural depth.
