Built around exceptional Chardonnay from Grand Cru villages such as Cramant and Avize, it reflects the house’s long-standing talent for creating refined, expressive Champagne with real cultural cachet.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass with brilliant clarity and delicate glints of apple skin, this vintage Champagne opens with a graceful bouquet of white flowers, peach, pear and lemon. The nose is lifted and pure, while the palate is wonderfully fresh, precise and layered, balancing Chardonnay’s tension with Pinot Noir’s structure and a touch of Pinot Meunier for harmony. The finish is elegant and persistent, with a fine mousse and a sense of finesse rather than force. While already highly expressive, it has the concentration and balance to evolve beautifully over several years, gaining extra depth and complexity with careful cellaring.

Production
Belle Epoque 2016 is crafted from 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier, with the blend designed to showcase Perrier-Jouët’s signature style: delicacy, floral lift and texture. The key Chardonnay comes from Grand Cru terroirs in Cramant and Avize, while Pinot Noir from the Reims area adds backbone and Pinot Meunier brings balance. The wine is aged for at least six years, allowing the cuvée to develop complexity and harmony before release.

Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as seafood, sashimi, lobster, poultry, and elegant vegetable preparations, as well as richer options featuring peach or root vegetables. It is best served at around 12°C, and decanting is not recommended; instead, open it shortly before serving to preserve its freshness and fine bubbles.
