Description

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008 Magnum is one of Champagne’s great prestige cuvées, presented here in the impressive magnum format for added elegance and longevity. Known for its floral, refined style and the iconic Anemone bottle designed by Émile Gallé in 1902, it reflects the house’s artistic heritage and long-standing reputation for finesse. A true collector’s Champagne, it combines rarity, history, and impeccable craftsmanship in one celebrated vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden colour with exceptional clarity and subtle apple-tinged highlights. The nose is expressive and graceful, opening with white flowers before unfolding into notes of peach, pear, and citrus. The palate is notably fresh and precise, with a fine balance between the creamy texture of Chardonnay and the structure brought by Pinot Noir. A small proportion of Pinot Meunier adds harmony and roundness, while the long ageing gives depth and complexity. The 2008 vintage has strong ageing potential, and the magnum format will help it evolve beautifully over time.

Production
This cuvée draws primarily on Chardonnay from the Grand Cru villages of Cramant and Avize, giving it its trademark purity and floral elegance, with Pinot Noir from the Reims area adding structure and Pinot Meunier contributing balance. The grapes are carefully selected from top vineyard sites in Champagne, where chalk-rich soils and a cool climate preserve freshness and aromatic lift. It is matured for at least six years before release, allowing the wine to develop its refined complexity and layered texture.

Food & Serving
Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008 Magnum is a superb match for refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, white fish, or poultry with delicate cream sauces. It also pairs beautifully with richer seafood and fine vegetables such as turnips or artichokes. Serve chilled at around 12°C, and decanting is not recommended; instead, open it gently and allow it to breathe in the glass.

Producer
Champagne Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 and is one of the most admired houses in Champagne, renowned for its floral signature style and artistic identity. Closely associated with elegance and creativity, the house has long been celebrated for producing refined, Chardonnay-driven cuvées. Its Belle Epoque wines are among its most iconic achievements, symbolising both the house’s heritage and its enduring place at the top of Champagne production.
