Tasting Notes
In the glass, Orma Toscana 2022 shows a deep, vivid ruby color with youthful purple hues at the rim, signaling both concentration and freshness. The nose is intense and layered, revealing dark cherries, ripe blackberries, and cassis, supported by notes of violets, graphite, sweet spice, cedar, and a touch of cocoa and tobacco from fine French oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet remarkably silky, with ripe, polished tannins and a core of dark fruit that feels both opulent and precise. Merlot brings plush texture and generosity, Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and length, while Cabernet Franc contributes aromatic lift and savory nuances. Flavors of black plum, blackcurrant, and blueberry unfold alongside hints of licorice, espresso, and a saline, mineral edge that reflects the Bolgheri coastline. Production
The Orma estate lies in Bolgheri, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in Livorno province, an area renowned for its gravelly, well-drained soils mixed with clay, sand, and stones, and a mild maritime climate moderated by breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. These conditions are ideal for Bordeaux varieties, allowing them to ripen fully while retaining freshness and aromatic precision. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with careful selection in the vineyard and again at the winery to ensure only the best clusters are used. Vinification usually involves temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve purity of fruit, followed by maturation in high-quality French oak barriques, which lend structure, spice, and polish without overwhelming the character of the terroir. The result is a wine that combines concentration with finesse, clearly expressing the distinctive voice of Bolgheri.

Food & Serving
Orma Toscana 2022 is a natural companion to richly flavored dishes and fine cuts of meat. It pairs beautifully with bistecca alla fiorentina, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, slow-braised beef or veal, game dishes, and truffle-infused pasta or risotto. Aged cheeses such as Pecorino Toscano, Parmigiano Reggiano, or mature hard cheeses also work extremely well, highlighting the wine’s depth and savory complexity. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) in large Bordeaux-style glasses to allow the aromas to unfold. For current drinking, decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to soften the tannins and fully reveal the wine’s layered bouquet; as it ages, a shorter decant will typically suffice to remove sediment and open up the aromas.
