Tasting Notes
In the glass, Overture shows a deep, opaque ruby color with a vibrant garnet rim, hinting at both concentration and youth. The nose is generous and layered, revealing aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and black cherry intertwined with notes of dark chocolate, mocha, tobacco leaf, cedar, and a subtle graphite minerality. Delicate hints of violet and baking spices add complexity as the wine opens. On the palate, Overture is supple yet structured, with a silky entry that unfolds into a full-bodied core of dark berries, cassis, and ripe plum. Fine-grained tannins provide a firm but polished framework, while well-integrated French oak contributes tones of vanilla, espresso, and sweet spice. Production
Overture is sourced from Opus One’s estate vineyards in the heart of Napa Valley, notably in the famed Oakville AVA where well-drained gravel, clay, and loam soils meet warm days and cool nights to deliver superb ripeness and aromatic complexity. Grapes are harvested by hand in small lots, allowing meticulous selection of bunches at optimal maturity. As a multi-vintage blend—typically dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with contributions from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec—Overture is composed from several harvests to achieve a consistent and expressive house style. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vessels to preserve purity of fruit and fine tannin structure, followed by élevage in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, to add depth, spice, and textural finesse before careful blending and bottling.

Food & Serving
Overture’s refined structure and layered profile make it ideal alongside richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb chops with rosemary, braised short ribs, or duck breast with a red wine reduction. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses like Comté, Manchego, or mature cheddar, as well as mushroom-based dishes and truffle-infused preparations. Serve at 16–18°C (60–65°F) for optimal expression. Decanting for 45–60 minutes before serving will help the wine fully open its bouquet and soften the tannins, especially in its first several years after release.
