Description
Olivier Leflaive Meursault 2023 is a polished white Burgundy that captures the depth and finesse Meursault is known for. Made from 100% Chardonnay by one of the region’s historic names, it combines aromatic intensity, creamy texture, and a refined mineral edge that speaks clearly of its Burgundy origins.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this Meursault shows a bright and inviting appearance. The nose is expressive and layered, with notes of almond, hazelnut, crisp apple, and subtle oak complexity. On the palate, it brings together ripe fruit, мягкий? no—smooth richness, and lively freshness, creating a wine that feels both generous and precise.
The finish is elegant and persistent, with the balance and structure to develop beautifully over time. While already very appealing in its youth, it should gain additional complexity with a few years of cellar aging, revealing deeper nutty, buttery, and mineral nuances.
Production
The grapes come from Meursault in Burgundy, where limestone-rich soils and a cool-climate terroir give Chardonnay its signature tension and finesse. The fruit is harvested by hand to preserve quality and select the best bunches, then vinified and aged for 17 months, including 5 months in stainless steel and the remainder in 100% oak barrels, with 22% new oak adding subtle spice and texture.
Food & Serving
This is a classic match for roasted poultry, lobster, scallops, creamy seafood dishes, and fine fish such as turbot or sole. It also works beautifully with mushroom risotto, truffle dishes, or soft aged cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is not essential, though a short aeration can help the wine open up in its youth.
