Neumeister Morillon Ried Moarfeitl GSTK Bio 2021 is a standout Chardonnay from one of the most highly regarded sites in Styria, bottled under the local Morillon name and elevated by the GSTK classification. Coming from one of the oldest vineyards in the Neumeister family holdings, it reflects both site pedigree and the region’s long tradition of precise, terroir-driven white wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a highly appealing, vibrant expression with notable depth and power. Rather than overt oak, the bouquet is marked by delicate fruit, subtle spice, and a gently sweet perfume, with hints of star anise and Darjeeling tea adding nuance and lift. On the palate, it brings a fine, almost creamy texture with a graceful sense of flow, balanced by freshness and mineral tension. The wine’s structure suggests very good aging potential, with the depth and concentration to develop beautifully over time.

Production
Moarfeitl is a high-plateau vineyard planted with Chardonnay since 1990 on calcareous sand and clay soils, giving the wine its characterful mix of richness and precision. The Morillon grapes undergo a 12-hour skin contact before fermentation in small oak barrels, followed by 18 months of maturation in larger, used vessels to preserve purity and site expression.

This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast poultry, veal, lobster, creamy mushroom risotto, or rich fish preparations. Serve slightly chilled at around 10–12°C, and consider brief decanting if opened young to allow its aromatics and texture to fully unfold.
