Description

Nani Rizzi Prosecco Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze Dry DOCG is one of the flagship sparkling wines from the steep hills of Valdobbiadene, crafted from top-tier Glera grapes grown in the famed Cartizze cru. This wine stands out for its pure, finely etched expression of fruit, balancing sweetness and freshness with remarkable precision. As a Cartizze DOCG – the “grand cru” of Prosecco – it represents the highest quality tier in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area, where Prosecco has been refined over generations into a world-class sparkling wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Prosecco shows a brilliant, pale straw-yellow color with silvery highlights and a very fine, persistent bead of bubbles. The mousse is delicate yet lively, giving an impression of finesse and elegance from the first pour. The nose is intensely aromatic and beautifully clean, with notes of acacia blossom and acacia honey, ripe pear, white peach and Golden Delicious apple, lifted by subtle lemongrass and citrus peel. There are hints of fresh almond and a gentle floral sweetness that underline its Cartizze origin. On the palate, it is creamy yet precise, with a soft, rounded texture and a perfectly judged “Dry” style – meaning a touch of residual sugar that enhances the wine’s fruit while being balanced by vibrant acidity. Flavors of orchard fruits, honeyed citrus, and candied lemon zest glide across the tongue, finishing long, elegant and refreshingly airy. This is a Prosecco that drinks beautifully on release and over the following 1–3 years, when its aromatic intensity and pristine fruit are at their best.

Production
The fruit for this wine comes from the prized Cartizze hill in Valdobbiadene, a tiny, steep subzone with poor, well-drained soils of sandstone and marl, and a cool yet sunny microclimate that allows Glera to ripen slowly and evenly. Yields are kept low in accordance with strict DOCG rules, ensuring concentration and aromatic purity. Grapes are harvested by hand on these slopes to protect the fragile berries and allow for careful selection. After gentle pressing, the base wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve freshness and delicate aromatics. The second fermentation follows the Charmat (Martinotti) method in pressurized stainless-steel tanks, where yeast and sugar are added to create the natural bubbles; the resulting CO₂ is absorbed into the wine, giving a fine and persistent perlage. At bottling, a carefully calibrated liqueur d’expédition, based on cane sugar and white wine, is added to achieve the refined “Dry” balance typical of top Cartizze Prosecco, and the wine is bottled under pressure without any contact with air.

Food & Serving
This Cartizze Dry is wonderfully versatile at the table. Its gentle sweetness and vivid acidity make it ideal with light desserts such as fruit tarts, lemon or almond cake, panna cotta, or fresh berries, and it pairs beautifully with panettone or biscotti at the end of a meal. It also works very well as an elegant aperitif, especially alongside prosciutto crudo, mild soft cheeses, or delicate seafood canapés. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F). Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle shortly before serving to preserve the fine mousse and aromatic intensity.
