Nabal Bodegas & Viñedos, Ribera del Duero Valle De Nabal MG, 2019

Nabal Bodegas & Viñedos Valle de Nabal 2019 is a polished Ribera del Duero Tempranillo that combines ripe fruit, precision and finesse in a beautifully balanced style. Sourced from mature vines in the cooler eastern part of Burgos, it captures both the power and freshness that have made this region one of Spain’s most respected red-wine heartlands.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with an inviting, concentrated aroma of ripe cherries, blueberries and violet, layered with hints of liquorice, green pepper and vanilla. The nose is expressive and generous, yet remains refined and fresh. On the palate, this is a medium-bodied wine with impressive intensity, firm but finely grained tannins, and a vibrant line of acidity that carries the flavors beautifully. Red plum, cherry juice, boysenberry and liquorice root are joined by paprika, clove and dark chocolate on a long, fruit-driven finish. It has the structure to age well over the coming years, gaining even more complexity and integration with bottle time.

Production
Made from 100% Tempranillo, the wine comes from selected vineyards in the cooler eastern area of Burgos, where approximately 40-year-old vines grow on gentle slopes with clay and limestone soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted in late September, then transported in small 15 kg cases to preserve fruit quality. Before fermentation, the must undergoes cold maceration to extract aroma and color, followed by fermentation in stainless steel using native yeasts to retain character and terroir expression. A further maceration with daily pump-overs helps build tannin structure and texture, before the wine spends 9–10 months in 100% new oak barrels, split between 60% American and 40% French oak.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for pink-roasted lamb or juicy pork chops, especially with grilled peppers on the side. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–45 minutes if you want to open up the aromatics and soften the structure a little.
