Montes Alpha Carmenère 2022 is a bold, modern Chilean red from the Colchagua Valley, crafted primarily from Carmenère with a small touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. It combines ripe fruit, polished structure, and a refined oak influence, making it a standout example of the variety’s rich, expressive style in Chile.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color that hints at its concentration and depth. The nose is generous and layered, with notes of blackcurrant, plum, and cherry lifted by pepper, cocoa, vanilla, and subtle touches of tobacco and coffee. The palate is full-bodied and supple, with concentrated dark fruit at the core, backed by spicy, slightly smoky nuances and well-integrated oak. The tannins are ripe and soft, leading to a long, smooth finish. This wine has the structure to develop further over the next few years, while already offering plenty of immediate appeal.

Montes Alpha Carmenère comes from the Colchagua Valley, one of Chile’s most respected wine regions, where warm, sunny conditions help Carmenère achieve full ripeness and expressive fruit character. The small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and complexity, while careful vinification and oak aging help build depth, balance, and a polished finish.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, beef tenderloin, and richly seasoned dishes such as barbecued ribs or Chilean-style empanadas. It also works well with hard cheeses and savory mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if you want to bring out even more of its aromatic complexity.
