Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, attractive color and opens with aromas of blueberry, ripe cherry, and a subtle herbal edge in the background. The palate is full-bodied and generous, with mature tannins that keep the wine controlled and balanced rather than heavy. Dark fruit leads the way, followed by hints of licorice and a light touch of oak from aging in French barrels. The finish is smooth and composed, suggesting good drinking now with the potential to develop further complexity over the next few years.

Production
Forward Kidd is a multi-vineyard blend drawn from three different sites, designed to express the character of Napa Valley through a combination of Petit Sirah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The grapes were selected in close collaboration with the growers, with an emphasis on ripeness, balance, and soft tannins. The wine spent 22 months aging in French oak barrels, 35% of which were new, adding refinement without overpowering the fruit.

This is an excellent match for grilled beef, steak, and other hearty meat dishes where the wine’s structure and dark-fruit profile can shine. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes if you want to open up the aromas and soften the texture further.
