Production
The Abtsberg vineyard is one of the great steep-sloped sites of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, known for its blue slate soils and south-facing exposure that help Riesling achieve remarkable ripeness while preserving freshness. Grapes are typically harvested by hand in selective passes to ensure optimal ripeness for Auslese. Vinification is traditionally focused on preserving purity and site expression, with cool fermentation and careful cellar handling to maintain the wine’s aromatic clarity and mineral precision.

This wine is a natural match for spicy Asian cuisine, foie gras, blue cheese, duck with fruit-based sauces, or richly seasoned pork dishes. It also shines alongside tart fruit desserts and can be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative wine. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short airing can help reveal its aromatics in youth.
