Matarromera Ribera del Duero Reserva 2019 is a polished expression of one of Spain’s most celebrated wine regions, made by a producer deeply rooted in the history of the Duero Valley. Crafted from carefully selected grapes and shaped by Carlos Moro’s commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture, it combines concentration, finesse, and the unmistakable character of Ribera del Duero.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Reserva typically shows a deep ruby color with a bright, youthful edge, promising both richness and precision. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe dark berries, plum, subtle spice, and hints of oak, leather, and earthy minerality. On the palate, it is structured and elegant, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of black fruit balanced by savory complexity. The finish is long and refined, making this a wine with excellent aging potential, especially as the 2019 vintage continues to knit together in bottle.

Production
The estate lies in the heart of Ribera del Duero, on the northern slopes of the Valle del Duero, where clay-sandy soils with slate and limestone help create wines with depth, tension, and aromatic detail. The vineyards are farmed organically and sustainably, and all fruit is harvested by hand to ensure only the best grapes reach the cellar. Tempranillo is the dominant variety, with smaller plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot used to add nuance and complexity to the final wine.

Food & Serving
This Reserva is a natural match for roast lamb, grilled beef, game, or hearty Spanish dishes such as lamb stew and aged Manchego. Serve it at around 16–18°C to let the aromas and structure open fully. Decanting for about 30–60 minutes is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to soften the tannins and bring out the wine’s aromatic depth.

Bodegas Matarromera was founded by Carlos Moro in 1988, building on a family heritage of winemaking in the Olivares and Valbuena de Duero area, long associated with the legendary “Golden Mile” of Ribera del Duero. The winery has become one of the region’s best-known names thanks to its focus on quality, terroir, and environmental responsibility. Moro’s leadership and commitment to sustainability were recognized with the European Environment Award in 2012.
