Tasting Notes
In the glass, Massetino 2020 shows a deep, intense ruby color. The bouquet is generous and immediate, offering ripe cherries, dark plums, blackberries, and layered notes of forest floor, violet, graphite, and sweet spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, yet carried by a lively, juicy freshness. The tannins are silky but firm enough to give shape, while the finish lingers with dark fruit, roasted spice, cocoa, tobacco, and a subtle balsamic lift. It is enjoyable now for its open, ripe character, but has the depth and balance to develop beautifully over the next 10–15 years.

Production
The 2020 growing season in Tuscany brought warmth, concentration, and freshness in a well-balanced expression. After a mild and humid winter, spring progressed steadily, followed by a long, dry summer that pushed the grapes toward full ripeness. A late-August shift to cooler nights and rainfall restored balance, helping preserve acidity and aromatic complexity. Merlot was harvested on September 14, with Cabernet Franc following two days later. Each parcel was vinified separately in concrete tanks with spontaneous fermentation and gentle extraction. Malolactic fermentation took place in barriques, around half of them new, before the wine was blended after a year and matured for a further three months in barrel prior to bottling.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, game birds, truffle dishes, and rich mushroom risotto. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and Tuscan-inspired cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
