Masseria Li Veli Askos Verdeca 2019 Magnum is a refined and terroir-driven white wine from Salento in Puglia, offering both immediate appeal and impressive cellaring potential. Made from 100% Verdeca and presented in magnum format, it combines freshness, structure, and a quietly complex style that reflects one of southern Italy’s most characterful native grapes.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear golden straw color. The nose is layered and elegant, with aromas of ripe pear, citrus, white flowers, herbs, almond, and a distinctive mineral edge. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with beautifully integrated acidity, a graceful structure, and a subtle creamy texture from partial oak fermentation and aging. The finish is long and persistent, leaving notes of citrus zest, nuts, and a lightly saline minerality. Thanks to the strong 2019 vintage and the magnum format, it has the potential to evolve further with time.

Production
The vineyards are located in Salento, in the southern part of Puglia, where limestone- and clay-rich soils help shape wines with ripeness, freshness, and mineral definition. The Mediterranean climate is tempered by cooling winds from both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, creating ideal conditions for slow, even ripening. Vinification focuses on texture and complexity, with partial fermentation and maturation in oak barrels, followed by bottle aging in magnum format for a slower, more harmonious development.

This Verdeca pairs well with seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, risotto, roast chicken, and Mediterranean vegetable dishes.
