Description

Mas De Daumas Gassac Blanc 2004 is a benchmark white from one of the Languedoc’s most iconic estates, prized for its rarity, character, and remarkable ability to age gracefully. Often described as a “Grand Cru” of the south of France, it reflects the estate’s pioneering spirit and long-standing reputation for producing wines of exceptional individuality.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep golden hue that hints at its maturity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with notes of ripe stone fruit, citrus peel, white flowers, honey, herbs, and subtle mineral nuances, gradually evolving with air. On the palate, it is broad yet vibrant, combining richness with freshness and a refined, textured mouthfeel. Mature white fruit, dried apricot, almond, and a touch of spice often lead into a long, savory finish. Thanks to its structure and concentration, it has excellent aging potential and can develop beautifully over many years.

Production
Mas De Daumas Gassac is located in the Gassac valley in the Languedoc, where varied soils, limestone-rich terroir, and a cool microclimate help preserve freshness and complexity. The estate is known for careful, low-intervention vineyard work and selective harvesting to ensure optimal ripeness. Vinification is carried out with a focus on preserving aromatic precision and structure, allowing the wine to reflect both site and vintage character.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, lobster, creamy risotto, mushroom dishes, and fine fish preparations such as turbot or sea bass. It should be served slightly cool, around 10–12°C, and may benefit from brief aeration or decanting if showing some age.

Producer
Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the most celebrated producers in the Languedoc, founded by the Guibert family and widely credited with elevating the reputation of the region. Inspired by a philosophy of terroir-driven winemaking, the estate has earned international acclaim for wines that combine elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness. Its pioneering work helped put the area on the map for collectors and fine-wine enthusiasts alike.
