Description
Marc Kreydenweiss Pinot Blanc Kritt Bio 2022 is a finely crafted organic white from Alsace that highlights the purity and elegance of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois. Sourced from the famed Kritt vineyard, this cuvée focuses on precision, mineral tension and vibrant drinkability. It’s a characterful, terroir-driven wine that bridges charming fruit with serious structure, ideal for those who appreciate refined Alsace whites.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a pale straw-yellow color with subtle green reflections, signaling its freshness and youthful energy. The nose opens gently with aromas of crisp pear, yellow apple and white peach, layered with hints of citrus zest, white flowers and a delicate chalky minerality.
On the palate, Kritt Pinot Blanc Bio 2022 is dry, clean and finely textured, combining juicy orchard fruit with a taut, stony backbone. Notes of pear, quince and ripe lemon are wrapped in a subtle creaminess from the Auxerrois component, while lively acidity keeps everything focused and refreshing. The finish is long, saline and slightly spicy, underlining the limestone terroir. Enjoyable now for its bright fruit and precision, it also has the structure to age gracefully for 3–6 years, gaining more complexity and creamier texture over time.
Production
The Kritt vineyard in Alsace is known for its limestone-rich soils, which lend a distinctive chalky minerality and tension to the wines. Farmed organically and biodynamically by Famille Kreydenweiss, the vines are tended by hand with careful attention to soil health and biodiversity. Harvest is typically carried out by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. In the cellar, the must is gently pressed and fermented with minimal intervention, often using indigenous yeasts, to allow the Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois to express their natural character. Aging takes place in stainless steel or neutral vessels to maintain purity, precision and terroir transparency, with only modest sulfur additions and no heavy filtration.
Food & Serving
This Pinot Blanc is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with delicate seafood dishes such as grilled fish, scallops, sushi and ceviche, as well as shellfish like oysters and mussels. It also complements poultry, light pork dishes, fresh goat cheese, soft-rind cheeses, seasonal salads and vegetable-focused cuisine such as asparagus or risotto with spring vegetables. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally at 8–10°C (46–50°F), to let the aromatics and texture fully unfold. Decanting is generally not necessary, but opening the bottle 15–20 minutes before serving will help the wine open up in the glass.
