Maison Ambroise, Bourgogne Blanc, 2023

Maison Ambroise’s Bourgogne Blanc 2023 is a classic and generously styled Chardonnay from one of Burgundy’s most respected wine families. Sourced from old vines in Prémeaux-Prissey, just next to Vosne-Romanée, and aged in French oak, it offers a taste of Burgundy that is both expressive and refined.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this wine shows the kind of polish you’d expect from a well-made Bourgogne Blanc. The nose opens with ripe yellow apples, citrus peel, white flowers, and a gentle layer of butter and baking spice from the oak aging. On the palate it is full-bodied for its appellation, juicy and rounded, with bright fruit framed by subtle oak influence. The texture is supple and satisfying, making it immediately enjoyable, while still having enough structure to develop nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Prémeaux-Prissey, a prestigious Burgundy village bordering Vosne-Romanée, where the old Chardonnay vines are around 40 years of age. After harvest, the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, including 20% new oak, which adds depth, texture, and a discreet spiced note without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for baked fish, roast poultry, creamy sauces, and shellfish. Serve it slightly chilled at around 10-12°C to let the fruit and oak show their best; decanting is not necessary, but a short time in the glass can help it open up beautifully.
