Description
Maison Ambroise’s Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains 2022 is a vivid expression of Burgundy’s terroir, combining precision, elegance, and a distinctly mineral edge. Sourced from one of Beaune’s most characterful Premier Cru sites, this Pinot Noir reflects the estate’s hands-on approach and the finesse that limestone-rich soils can bring to the glass.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, translucent ruby hue typical of refined Pinot Noir. The nose opens with fresh red berries, wild strawberry, and red cherry, lifted by subtle floral tones, crushed stone, and a hint of spice from the oak.
The palate is light on its feet yet structured, with silky tannins, juicy fruit, and a clean mineral line that keeps the wine focused and long. There is excellent balance here, and the 2022 vintage should reward cellaring for several years, gaining more depth, spice, and earthy complexity with time.
Production
Les Tuvilains is a limestone-driven Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune, whose famously hard soils historically made cultivation difficult but also helped produce wines of remarkable elegance. For this cuvée, the grapes are 100% destemmed and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 70% new oak used to add depth and frame without overpowering the fruit.
Food & Serving
Serve at around 14°C in large Burgundy glasses to allow the aromatics to open fully. It pairs beautifully with steak tartare, roast quail, rabbit with Dijon mustard, or other delicate game dishes where the wine’s finesse and mineral freshness can shine.
Producer
Maison Ambroise is a Burgundy producer known for its terroir-focused philosophy and careful parcel selections. Under Ludivine and François Ambroise, the estate has earned recognition for crafting expressive, site-driven wines that highlight the purity and individuality of Burgundy’s vineyards.
