Mahi Marlborough Pinot Gris 2022 is a beautifully textured New Zealand white that balances freshness with real depth and value. Crafted by winemaker Brian Bicknell from fruit sourced across seven Marlborough vineyards, it reflects Mahi’s thoughtful, hands-on approach and the region’s reputation for vibrant, expressive whites.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Gris shows a bright, inviting appearance with a fresh, polished feel. The nose is lively and layered, opening with grapefruit, lemon and ripe nectarine, followed by hints of passion fruit, grass and a subtle flinty edge. The palate brings together generous fruit and crisp acidity in an easy, harmonious style. Citrus notes take the lead, supported by a pleasing mineral streak and a rounded texture, with a touch of weight from partial maturation in older French oak. It is delicious now and should hold nicely over the next few years as its texture and complexity continue to develop.

Production
Fruit is sourced from seven different Marlborough vineyards, each contributing its own character to the final blend. The grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, helping preserve freshness and delicacy in the juice. After fermentation, up to 19% of the wine is matured in old French oak to add texture and breadth without overt wood influence.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine lightly chilled at around 8-10°C. It works beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta, sushi, or fresh salads with citrusy dressings, and it can also handle mildly spicy Asian dishes. Decanting is not necessary.
